Pick up from your hotel in Cairo by a private driver with an air-conditioned vehicle. Then head to the oldest mosque built in the 9th century AD which is still working today; Ibn Tulun Mosque . It was built by Ahmad ibn Tulun, the autonomous Egyptian ruler during the 9th century AD. Its design has influenced many mosques throughout Egypt up until today. There are very nice decorated panels on the walls around the courtyard. The minaret is like no other minaret in Cairo; it leans slightly forwards instead of leaning backwards like all minarets. You can go up the minaret for unforgettable view of Cairo.

then you will proceed to the Mosque of Sultan Hassan. It was built in early 14th century AD and it is the most innovative piece of Islamic architecture, mixing Gothic styles , Byzantine styles and traditional Arabic patterns. The patterns on the walls are so cleanly cut that they look as if they were done yesterday. There is a huge dome surrounding the central part of this mosque where there is another dome again resting upon four columns. This mosque would be worth visiting even without its historical value; it's just gorgeous to look at.

Afterwards you will explore the Mosque of Rifai , where the last Shah of Iran was buried after he died in Egypt as he came as a refugee from Iran with his family, following the Islamic revolution.

After all this sightseeing it's time for lunch. In a short walk from the mausoleum you will find a local restaurant where they serve delicious Egyptian food at reasonable prices.
