8-Hour Private Tour of the Pyramids, Sphinx, Grand Egyptian Museum

5 days

Easy

Overview

This 5-day short break is designed for travellers with limited time who want a meaningful introduction to Egypt — the Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, and two nights at the Red Sea. Day 2 is entirely dedicated to the Giza Plateau and GEM with a private Egyptologist. Day 3 is the flight to Sharm El Sheikh and resort arrival. Day 4 is a full snorkelling and glass-bottom boat day on the Red Sea. Compact, private, and efficient.

Tour Highlights

◆ Giza Pyramids — private Egyptologist, no group coaches

◆ Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — Tutankhamun in full

◆ Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa, Sharm El Sheikh — 2 nights

◆ Red Sea snorkelling + glass-bottom boat excursion

◆ All domestic flights, transfers, and entrance fees included

◆ Perfect for long weekends or add-ons to regional business travel

Hotels & Resorts: Sharm standard: Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa.

Who This Is For

  • Travelers with 5 days or less who want both ancient Egypt and the Red Sea without choosing between them
  • Those adding Egypt to a regional business trip (Dubai, Amman, Istanbul) as an efficient extension
  • First-time visitors who want the essential Egypt experience — GEM and Giza — without committing to a 7–10 day itinerary
  • Couples and solo travelers who want structure for the history days and freedom for the beach days

What Makes This Tour Different

  • GEM and Giza in a single guided day — the correct sequencing for a short visit: museum context in the afternoon sharpens the morning at the plateau, or vice versa, depending on your energy
  • Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa specifically — a quieter, more resort-focused property than the Naama Bay strip hotels, suited to short stays where pool and beach access matter more than nightlife proximity
  • Saqqara morning extension available on Day 3 before the Sharm flight — three hours at the world's oldest stone monument without extending the total trip length
  • Cairo–Sharm domestic flight included — 55 minutes, no driving, no border crossing

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cairo

Private airport transfer. Hotel check-in. Evening free. Overnight: Cairo (4-star).

Day 2 Cairo — Giza Plateau & Grand Egyptian Museum

Full day with a private Egyptologist. Giza Plateau: the three royal pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Valley Temple of Khafre. Afternoon: Grand Egyptian Museum — Tutankhamun complete collection, Royal Mummies Hall, Ramesses II Corridor. Evening: Khan el-Khalili for a short walk (optional). Overnight: Cairo.

Day 3 Fly Cairo → Sharm El Sheikh

Morning free (Saqqara half-day extension available, own cost). Midday flight Cairo → Sharm El Sheikh (55 min). Transfer to Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa. Check in. First afternoon on the Red Sea — beach, pool, or snorkelling from the resort beach. Overnight: Stella Di Mare, Sharm.

Day 4 Sharm — Red Sea Snorkelling & Glass-Bottom Boat

Full-day Red Sea excursion by boat to prime snorkelling sites. Coral gardens, reef fish, and possible sea turtle sightings. Glass-bottom boat section for non-swimmers. Optional (own cost): jeep safari at sunset or Naama Bay evening. Overnight: Stella Di Mare.

Day 5 Sharm → Departure

Morning at the beach or pool. Transfer to Sharm airport. Fly Cairo. International connection

Best Time to Visit: Year-round. Sharm El Sheikh beach is excellent in all seasons. For monument touring, October–April is optimal. Summer visitors (June–August) should plan the Giza visit for 07:00–10:00 to avoid extreme heat.

Note: This is Egypt's ideal short break for those with limited annual leave or combining Egypt with another regional destination (Dubai, Istanbul, Amman). A Saqqara extension can be added to the morning of Day 3 before the Sharm flight, adding ~3 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Day 2 too much — Giza and the GEM in a single day?

It is a full day, deliberately structured. Giza runs in the morning when the light is better, the temperature is cooler, and the plateau is less crowded — typically 07:30 to 12:00. The GEM occupies the afternoon: it is indoors, air-conditioned, and a fundamentally different kind of experience from the open-air plateau. The shift from outdoor monument to museum works well as a rhythm rather than a burden. Your Egyptologist manages the pace throughout and will compress or extend sections based on your responses. If the Tutankhamun collection holds you longer, Giza gets a tighter morning. If you want the full plateau, including the Solar Boat Museum, the GEM focuses on the essential Tutankhamun wing rather than the full collection. Most travelers on this itinerary describe Day 2 as the highlight of the trip — not in spite of the combination, but because of it. If you genuinely want to give each site a full, separate day, the 8-Day Romantic Egypt Honeymoon or the 7-Day Classic Egypt Tour is the right itinerary. For a 5-day short break, the combined Day 2 is the correct call.

Can I do the Saqqara extension on Day 3 morning and still make the Sharm flight?

Yes, with the right flight selected at the time of booking. The Sharm El Sheikh domestic flight from Cairo departs multiple times daily — the earliest is typically around 07:00, with midday and afternoon options. We book the afternoon departure for itineraries that include a morning at Saqqara, which gives you approximately 3 hours at the site before you need to leave for the airport. Saqqara is 32 kilometres south of central Cairo. With a private vehicle, the drive from the site to Cairo Airport takes approximately 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic — allow more on weekdays. Your Egyptologist times the visit to the departure, not the other way around. If you want to add the Saqqara half-day, mention it when booking, and we will build the Day 3 timing accordingly. What Saqqara adds: the Step Pyramid of Djoser — the world's oldest monumental stone structure, predating Giza by several decades — and the painted mastaba tombs of the Old Kingdom viziers, where the wall reliefs are more intimate and in some ways more arresting than the royal tomb paintings you'll see if you continue to Luxor. Three hours here is the best use of a morning in Egypt for a traveler who has already done Giza the day before.

Can we upgrade the Sharm El Sheikh hotel beyond Stella Di Mare?

Yes. Stella Di Mare Beach Hotel & Spa is the standard property on this package — a well-positioned 5-star resort with direct beach access and good spa facilities, suited to a two-night stay. If you want a step up, two options are available on request:

• Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh (Hadaba area) — cliff location, more secluded, quieter atmosphere. The most private setting in Sharm El Sheikh. Better suited to couples and honeymoon guests who want seclusion over animation.

• Rixos Premium Seagate (Sharm el Maya Bay) — more animated, all-inclusive option available, closer to Naama Bay's restaurants and nightlife. Better suited to guests who want resort energy and convenience.

Both are genuine 5-star upgrades at a price premium. Specify your preference when enquiring, and we'll confirm availability and the cost difference for your travel dates.

Can we extend this trip to include Luxor?

Yes — the 5-day structure becomes a 7 or 8-day itinerary by inserting Luxor between Cairo and Sharm. The routing: Cairo (2N) → fly to Luxor → Luxor (2N, West and East Bank) → fly to Aswan or fly direct to Sharm → Sharm (2N) → depart. This gives you the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, Hatshepsut's Temple, and the full Luxor experience without cutting anything from the current package. Alternatively, if Aswan and Philae Temple matter more to you than the Red Sea, the 7-Day Classic Egypt Tour (Cairo, Luxor, Aswan) runs the full ancient Egypt circuit without the beach component. That is the right structure if this trip is your only visit to Egypt and you want to prioritise depth over contrast.

→ → 8-Day Egypt Honeymoon — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan & Red Sea

Is this package suitable for a short honeymoon break?

Yes. The structure — two days of ancient Egypt followed by two nights at a 5-star Red Sea resort — works well as a honeymoon format when time is limited. Day 2 with a private Egyptologist is genuinely memorable; Days 4 and 5 at the resort are entirely at your own pace with no schedule. The contrast is right for a honeymoon. For the honeymoon version, we recommend upgrading to the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh (see hotel question above) and requesting the honeymoon welcome amenity at check-in. We also add a private dinner recommendation in Cairo for Day 2 evening — after the GEM and Giza, the setting for dinner that night is one you'll remember. Mention the honeymoon occasion when you enquire, and we handle the details. If your schedule allows 8 days rather than 5, the 8-Day Romantic Egypt Honeymoon (Cairo + Sharm, fully developed) gives Day 2 and Day 3 to Cairo separately rather than combining them, and extends the Sharm stay to four nights.

Can this trip be used as a stopover between two regional destinations?

Yes — this is one of the specific use cases this package is built for. Egypt sits at the hub of regional air routes between Europe, the Gulf, East Africa, and the Indian subcontinent. Cairo is a direct flight from Dubai (3 hrs), Amman (1 hr), Istanbul (3 hrs), Nairobi (5 hrs), and most major European cities. Sharm El Sheikh has direct flights to the UK, Germany, Italy, Poland, and most of Europe, as well as connections to the Gulf. The typical stopover routing: arrive Cairo from your first destination → 2 days Cairo with guide → fly Sharm → 2 nights Red Sea → depart Sharm directly to your next destination. No return to Cairo required. Your international departure from Sharm avoids Cairo altogether on the exit, which is the routing that makes the short break genuinely efficient rather than just a rushed visit. If your second destination is in the Gulf rather than Europe, the Aswan–Hurghada–Gulf routing is an alternative — contact us with your full itinerary, and we'll design the domestic legs to connect cleanly.

Is the snorkelling excursion on Day 4 included or at own cost?

Included. The full-day Red Sea snorkelling excursion with equipment and the glass-bottom boat section are both included in the package price. The boat departs in the morning and returns by mid-afternoon, leaving the evening free at the resort. What is at one's own cost: the optional Sinai jeep safari and the Naama Bay evening trip mentioned in the Day 4 notes. Diving, if you're certified, is also at your own cost through the resort's dive centre — equipment rental and guided dives are available directly through Stella Di Mare or the upgraded hotel. The included excursion is specifically snorkelling and a glass-bottom boat, not diving.

Is this tour available year-round?

Yes. The Sharm El Sheikh Red Sea component is excellent in all seasons — water temperature ranges from 21°C in January to 28°C in August, visibility is good year-round, and the reef is accessible regardless of the month. There is no bad time to visit Sharm for snorkelling. For the Cairo monument component on Day 2, October through April is the most comfortable window. July and August temperatures at the Giza Plateau reach 40°C by midday — if you're visiting in summer, we schedule the Giza portion for 07:00–10:00 and move to the GEM for the cooler afternoon session. The itinerary structure accommodates this automatically; you don't need to adjust anything. Summer visitors consistently report Day 2 as manageable when the early start is observed.

What happens if my international flight arrives late on Day 1?

Nothing changes on Day 1 — the arrival day has no touring content, so a late arrival only affects how much rest you get before Day 2. Your driver meets you at Cairo Airport arrivals regardless of the time, manages your luggage, and transfers you to the hotel. Check-in at 4-star properties in Cairo is typically 24 hours for pre-booked rooms. If your Day 1 arrival is after midnight — technically arriving on Day 2 — we adjust the Day 2 start time by one to two hours and compress the GEM visit slightly if needed, or move the Giza start from 07:30 to 08:30 to give you a proper night's sleep. When booking, contact us with your arrival time, and we'll confirm the exact Day 2 schedule. A flight delayed by 4–5 hours does not derail the itinerary; your Egyptologist works around it.

Before You Arrive We send your final itinerary — with confirmed hotel names, flight times, guide contact details, and daily schedule — at least 7 days before your trip. Review it and contact us with any questions via WhatsApp or email. Your guide's WhatsApp number is included — you can message them directly before arrival.

Visa Most nationalities can obtain an Egypt entry visa on arrival at the airport ($25 USD, paid by card or cash). Eligible nationalities include USA, Canada, EU, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The process takes approximately 15–30 minutes. Your airport meet & greet assistant helps you through the visa queue on arrival. Check your specific nationality's requirements before travel at the Egyptian e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) — some nationalities must apply in advance.

Airport Arrival Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. They assist with luggage and escort you directly to your vehicle. If your flight is delayed, we track it — your driver adjusts. If you cannot find your driver, contact us on WhatsApp immediately (our support line is monitored 24/7 during your trip).

Hotels You will stay in 5-star hotels throughout. Specific properties are confirmed in your final itinerary. If you have a preference for a particular hotel or hotel chain, tell us when booking and we'll accommodate where possible. Check-in is typically from 2:00 PM; early check-in is arranged when available but cannot be guaranteed for early-morning arrivals. We always arrange luggage storage if your room is not ready.

Domestic Flights All domestic flights listed in your itinerary are included and booked by us. You receive e-tickets in your final itinerary. Domestic flights in Egypt require a valid passport. Arrive at the domestic terminal approximately 90 minutes before departure — your driver handles the timing.

What You'll Pay On-Site All entry fees listed in the itinerary are included and handled by your guide. Optional upgrades — such as the Tutankhamun tomb ($15), the Seti I tomb ($45), the Great Pyramid interior ($31), or Sound & Light shows — are paid on-site by credit or debit card. Your guide advises whether each upgrade is worthwhile before you decide. Cash is no longer accepted at most major sites.

Meals Breakfast is included daily at your hotel. Lunch is included on all touring days. Dinners are not included (except on Nile cruise nights — see ⛵ below). Your guide recommends restaurants each evening based on your preferences and location. Expect $15–30 per person for a good dinner in Cairo, Luxor, or Aswan.

If your package includes a Nile cruise: All meals on board (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are included. Alcoholic beverages on the cruise are not included and are purchased separately from the ship's bar.

Weather & Sun Egypt is hot and dry for most of the year. Peak season (October–April) is the most comfortable: 18–28°C (65–82°F) during the day, cool evenings. Low season (May–September) brings intense heat: 35–45°C (95–113°F) at open-air sites. Aswan and Luxor are consistently hotter than Cairo. Your guide adjusts timing to avoid the worst midday heat. Sun protection is essential year-round.

Dress Code Dress comfortably and modestly. At mosques, shoulders and knees must be covered (all genders). At archaeological sites, there is no formal dress code, but lightweight long sleeves and long trousers are practical for both sun protection and cultural respect. Comfortable closed-toe shoes with good grip are essential — you will walk on sand, uneven stone, and rough terrain across multiple sites.

Photography Photography is permitted at most outdoor sites. Inside tombs, photography is generally prohibited unless you purchase a photography ticket. Inside the Grand Egyptian Museum, rules vary by gallery. Drone photography requires permits that are extremely difficult to obtain — do not fly a drone without confirmed authorization.

Payments & Currency Egypt's currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP). Credit/debit cards are widely accepted at hotels, museums, and restaurants. ATMs are available in all cities on your itinerary. Your guide and driver accept tips in EGP, USD, or EUR. Recommended tipping: $10–15 per person per day for your guide, $5 per day for your driver.

Health & Safety Drink only bottled water (provided daily on your tour). Tap water is not safe for tourists. Bring any personal medications — pharmacies exist but may not stock your specific brands. Sunscreen, a refillable water bottle, and a small daypack are your most useful daily items. Travel insurance is required and not provided by Pyramids Land — we recommend coverage for trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and evacuation.

Communication Your guide is reachable by WhatsApp throughout your trip. Our support line is monitored 24/7 during your travel dates. Wi-Fi is available at all hotels and on Nile cruise ships. If you need a local SIM card or eSIM, your guide can help you arrange one on arrival — Egyptian eSIMs cost approximately $10–15 for a week of data.

Cultural Notes Egyptians are genuinely welcoming. Basic Arabic — "Shukran" (thank you), "Salaam alaikum" (peace be upon you) — is appreciated. At tourist sites, you may be approached by vendors or people offering unsolicited assistance. Your guide manages these interactions. Bargaining is expected at markets (Khan el-Khalili, Aswan souk) but not at shops with fixed prices. Your guide advises.

        What to bring

          • Sunscreen (SPF 30+ minimum — reapply every 2 hours at outdoor sites)
          • Sunglasses
          • Camera or smartphone (plus charger — charge every night at your hotel)
          • Light scarf or shawl for mosque visits
          • Small daypack for water, camera, sunscreen, and a light layer
          • Any personal medications

          For the trip:

          • Passport (valid for at least 6 months from entry date) — required for domestic flights, hotel check-ins, and visa on arrival
          • Travel insurance documents (digital or printed)
          • Comfortable evening clothes for dinners (smart casual — no dress code at most Egyptian restaurants)
          • A light jacket or sweater for air-conditioned vehicles, hotels, and cool evenings (October–March)
          • Layers for early morning departures (Abu Simbel at 3 AM can be cold even in Egypt)
          • Swimwear if your package includes Hurghada, Sharm, or a Nile cruise with a sundeck pool
          • Power adapter — Egypt uses Type C (European 2-pin) outlets, 220V. Most hotels have universal outlets, but carry an adapter as backup.

We provide bottled water daily throughout your trip. You do not need to bring your own.

Explore the tours above. Read the details. Ask questions if needed. Book only when it feels right.

          Prices are based on:

          • Group size

You will always know what is included before booking. There are no surprise additions.
